Layering your lights is important in any room of the house. That is especially true for bathrooms. There are three main lighting layers to consider:
Ambient light, which provides the main foundation of illumination. This usually comes in the form of ceiling lights.
Task light, which gives focused illumination for activities. In the case of bathrooms, this could be shower lights, or vanity lights.
Accent light, which provides a decorative appeal and can create a nice, relaxing mood.
Wall sconces will generally be employed in the task and accent layers. Once you have your ceiling lights worked out, you can bring in the wall sconces and effortlessly incorporate them.
Work wall sconces into the bathroom in the form of:
- shower lights
- bath lights
- vanity lights
- architectural lighting
For an extra touch, you can include smart controls. These will allow you to control the brightness of a light or turn a light on and off using your voice or an app. With individual controls for the lights, you can pick and choose which lights are on at any given time, giving you better control of the atmosphere in the bathroom.
